I've recently installed openSuse 11.3 and Skype. Unfortunately the video didn't work. I've tried many solutions but none of them solved this issue. After some research it occured that the video didn't work due to cairo-dock running in openGl mode.
Update: run export XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 && skype
