Pidgin freezes on new messages

I had a little problem with Pidgin .. often getting a new message caused Pidgin to freeze .. unfortunately not only Pidgin (but also some other running apps :/). This issue is caused by system notification bubbles and can be permanently fixed by removing the pidgin-libnotify package. Simply run

sudo apt-get remove pidgin-libnotify

in a terminal or use synaptic to get rid of it. After restarting Pidgin everything should be fine :-).
